OUR
MISSION
Since
its founding in 1983 as a non-profit, public education
fund, The Ed. Fund has been dedicated to inspiring student
achievement, encouraging commitment to lifelong learning,
and building community partnerships committed to public
education in the West Contra Costa Unified School District
(WCCUSD).
To carry out this mission, the Ed. Fund:

Provides enriching grants and programs
- Honors
teaching excellence
- Awards
student scholarships
Through
a monthly meeting of the Board of Directors, a variety
of task forces comprised of members of the Board of Directors
and non-Board members, and day-to-day administration by
the Executive Director, The Ed. Fund provides a variety
of services to the teachers, students, parents and administrators
of the District.

The Ed. Fund . . .

annual mini-grants and school-wide grants to teachers and
schools.
- Awards
six annual Teaching Excellence Awards and holds an annual
awards banquet.

summer camp scholarships to low income students.”

Ed. Fund enriches education for WCCUSD students by providing:

Repertory Theatre Traveling Productions
- Oakland
East Bay Symphony School Performances
- Awards summer camp scholarships
to low-income WCCUSD students.
- Jazz
outreach programs

Shakespeare Workshops
- Musical
instruments for students who cannot afford them
COMMUNITY
PARTNERSHIPS
The
Ed. Fund acts as the non-profit umbrella and fiscal agent
for several community and school groups
The
Ed. Fund . . .
- Participates
in several District/community collaboratives working to
improve education.
- Establishes
and incubates programs to benefit students and teachers.
For example, it pioneered After School Enrichment
Programs at District junior high/middle schools.
- Provides
a non-profit umbrella for schools & community groups
working to improve public education.
- Sponsors
workshops on Grant Development
THE
ED. FUND'S FUNDING SOURCES
With
funds and in-kind donations from
Corporations, Local
Businesses, WCCUSD Employees, Individuals, Service Clubs,
Local Independent Charities, Bequests, Foundation Grants,
and The Ed. Fund Board of Directors and Advisory Board, the
Ed. Fund enriches and enhances education for all WCCUSD students
in grades pre-K-12.
THE
ROLE YOU CAN PLAY
- Make
an annual pledge to The Ed. Fund

a "Friend of The Ed. Fund"
- Contribute
to individual Ed. Fund events
- Designate
“The West Contra Costa Public Education Fund”
when you sign up for the United Way
- Name
The Ed. Fund as a beneficiary in your will.
