Each year, The Ed. Fund recognizes the dedication and hard work of teachers, staff, and volunteers who work in West County public schools who made a significant impact in students’ lives. This year, awardees will be acknowledged at our 20th Annual Excellence in Education Banquet on Friday, May 16, 2008.

Who to Nominate
• Any certificated teacher, non-certificated staff, or citizen who has significantly enhanced the ability of students in the West Contra Costa District to achieve excellence.
• Former winners are posted at http://www.edfundwest.org/teaching.html

Who can Nominate
• Any community member.

How to Nominate
• Download the appropriate nomination form.
    •   Teaching Excellence Award Nomination Form
    •   Distinguished Non-Certificated Employee Nomination Form
    •   Distinguished Citizen Nomination Form
• Fax, mail, or email or your nomination to The Ed. Fund no later than February 15, 2008
• Late nominations will not be considered.

What to include in your Nomination
• Printed Name of Nominee
• Reasons for the nomination.
• Reasons may include:
    •   Evidence of the results of their efforts
    •   Commitments – over and above their position or occupation
    •   Characteristics that inspire you and others
• Your name, address, phone number and e-mail (if you have one)
• Your signature.

How Awards are Decided
• An Ed Fund committee reviews and rates applications and then interviews finalists and selects award recipients.
• For Teaching Excellence Awards, teachers must complete an additional application. From those applications finalists are interviewed.
