OUR MISSION
Public libraries build communities and opportunities. The Library Foundation of Contra Costa attains resources to enhance the library’s services, expand its capacity, and leverage its benefits more equitably across our diverse communities.
WHAT WE ARE DOING
The Library Foundation of Contra Costa secures new funding to support Library services, programs, resources, and capital projects. The Foundation partners with the Contra Costa County Library to advance its mission and to bridge resource, opportunity, and equity gaps amongst its service areas and twenty-six branches.
WHY DO WE NEED THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION OF CONTRA COSTA?
Funding for Contra Costa County Library’s twenty-six branches is uneven, determined by disparate levels of municipal and support group contributions beyond the county-funded baseline. The Foundation addresses these disparities through raising awareness and cultivating donor relationships to bring more parity and equity of access and opportunity to our community.
OUR GOALS & OBJECTIVES
Donated funds are used to enhance the Library’s collections, programming, services, resources, and reach; build and furnish new and revitalized libraries; obtain technologies and digital resources; and provide additional programs for youth, adults, and seniors.
Our funding priorities focus on three categories:
-
Branch development and capital projects
-
Programming equity
-
Collection enhancement
We partner with all Contra Costa County Library stakeholders and community members and build upon and seek collaborative opportunities with our existing friends and foundation groups. In sum, we pursue both systemwide and targeted initiatives that reflect the Foundation’s equity-based priorities and enhance library services.
