Maddie Orenstein (she/they) has over 15 years of experience working in education, from working as a college counselor and admin in schools, to supporting school districts and educational leaders to listen to and connect more deeply with their communities. She fell in love with West Contra Costa and its students while working at Leadership Public Schools, Richmond. She then started the Community Leadership Institute summer program for students across the district to learn about themselves by connecting with the powerful leaders throughout their community. She also started the WCC Education fair alongside a parent leadership group, and collaborated with WCCUSD on COVID Back to School Planning and the DCLAP process. She hopes to help the WCCUSD community to feel sustained and supported in her role at the Ed Fund. Maddie lives in Oakland with her family– she loves taking long walks by herself or with her family and friends, jumping in cold bodies of water, karoake/singalongs, and she co-hosts a monthly community concert series called Tiny Garage Concerts.
