Since 1983, the Ed Fund has been committed to uplifting public education in the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD). As a trusted community partner, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to learn, create, and thrive—regardless of zip code, income, or background.

Our Community Giving Grants are rooted in that belief. We exist to remove barriers for educators, students, and community partners by providing resources that make learning more equitable, engaging, and inspiring. These grants invest directly in classrooms, schools, and community-based projects that nurture creativity, foster belonging, and empower young people to see their potential.

Through this program, the Ed Fund offers several grant opportunities that respond to the unique needs and voices of our West Contra Costa community:

  • Bradley Arts Grants give the WCCUSD community the opportunity to empower and support students with their social, emotional, and academic growth—encouraging project-based learning, skill development, and meaningful engagement through the arts.
  • Back-to-School Grants help ease the burden of out-of-pocket classroom costs for educators, ensuring students have the tools and supplies they need to succeed.
  • Black History Month Grants celebrate and honor the lives and contributions of African and Black Americans, teaching students the importance of Black culture, arts, history, and music—and their lasting impact on the world today. These projects immerse students in a sense of pride, belonging, and community, while celebrating their rich heritage and shared experiences.

We’re proud to invest in the incredible work happening across West Contra Costa classrooms.

Grant Opportunities

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year, WCCUSD community!

We are so excited to announce a variety of grant opportunities for this school year through our Community Giving Grants program. These opportunities are designed to empower educators, students, and community partners to bring creative, meaningful projects to life across West Contra Costa schools.

Who Can Apply

Community Giving Grants are open to teachers, administrators, students, parents, and community-based organizations whose proposed projects directly support a classroom, school, or group of schools within WCCUSD. (Charter schools are not eligible.)

Priority consideration is given to:

  • First-time applicants
  • Educators or groups who have not previously received an Ed Fund grant
  • Projects that demonstrate collaboration across multiple classrooms, schools, or community partners

Back-to-School Grants

This year, we’re proud to have awarded $32,000 in Back-to-School Grants to 128 educators across 50+ WCCUSD schools, with each teacher receiving $250 to purchase supplies, materials, and resources to kick off the year strong.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the Maxwell Hanrahan Foundation, these grants continue to ensure our educators and students have the tools they need to thrive.

(Applications for Back-to-School Grants are now closed for the 2025–2026 school year.)
