Vanessa Flynn Coaching provides the tools and builds capacity for schools, ensuring that all children learn and apply language in powerful ways in school and in life. Her work will provide coaching and professional development in effective strategies connected to English Language development based on research of how students learn language. This is connected to language learning being driven through content in social studies and sciences, culturally relevant approaches, practices, and mindsets.

Ms. Flynn has been an educator in the Bay Area for over twenty-five years. During this time, Ms. Flynn has been a classroom teacher, a literacy coach, a school principal, and a literacy consultant. Components of her work include:

  • Creating structures and systems for professional learning communities connected to equity-focused data analysis, ensuring interventions and instructional changes are connected to diagnostic assessments.
  • Leading and facilitating professional learning communities through dialogue and inquiry in services of equitable action steps for all children.

Ms. Flynn will be working with the team at Michelle Obama Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year.
